Here is a bass clef version of a popular melody called ‘ode to joy’, taken from Beethoven’s 9th symphony.
It is quite a simple melody written in a 4/4 time signature with a simple crotchet melody. With that in mind make sure that you hold your dotted crotchet on for a beat and a half. We must hear the different rhythms in those bars. Very important.
This version can be played by any bass clef instrument, but we strongly recommend that you use a Tuba, Euphonium or bass trombone for this. Watch out for your two flats as well. If you don’t know what they are just ask your teacher!
